Russian hacktivists attack Ukrainians through e-mail
CERT-UA, the government computer emergency response team of Ukraine, which operates under the State Special Communications Service, reported a new cyber attack. It consists in mass sending of e-mails with the subject “Final payment” and an attachment of the same name in the form of a TGZ archive. It is assumed that these are Russian hacktivists.
Opening this archive will download malware onto your computer. As a result, the user will lose important data. This attack is associated with the UAC-0041 group (Russian hacktivists). It is among the top five most frequently attacking Ukrainian users. These hacktivists exploit current military topics. Most likely, Russian intelligence shares data with the group. Detailed information about this attack is available on the CERT-UA website.
